Ok, so apparently I am not the best at keeping up with a blog but I am doing way better than I thought. Last Thursday was a good run. I have become spoiled with the cool weather so I definitely felt the warmer temp. I did have a running buddy so that was nice. She joined me the first 4 miles, and I finished out the last 3 solo. It's funny how times flies when you talk while running. AND it's really nice to be able to talk and run, and not dry heave. Anywho, did not make it out running in Austin. Our hotel was right on the river so I saw the running path. Looked nice, and I saw a bunch of runner/walkers. However, the idea of sleeping in overwhelmed me especially since waking up at 2:45am, and not stopping at all on Friday. The festival was awesome, and the weather was perfect. I would love to go back and hang out/sightsee. Thinking ACL will be a great yearly adventure. I didn't get back to running until Tuesday, and I felt the 4 day break. I began to run just as the thunder rolled, and black clouds loomed in (oh crap). So, I thought let's see how fast I can do a mile, 8:35, good job. All I needed to do was 3. 1.46 mile blank screen on the garmin ( arg!). Of course. I knew where 2 miles was, and the storm was close so I called it a done deal. The next morning I woke up early and did 4 since it was massage day. I get one every couple of months, and it is worth every penny. Which brings me to today...and my sinuses. Now I don't suffer from sinus problems too often but I woke up this morning not feeling too hot. It is totally bearable but it feels like something wants to hit. I just drank a ton of water, took some ibuprofen, and got out there. Other than the constant drainage in my nose, I felt pretty good. I didn't have high hopes, so I'm proud that I did 5. I knew that mentally I had to get it done to do 10 on Sat. I'm doing a 10 mile race so I can see where I stand with this milage in that kind of atmosphere. Well, that's all I got. Watch out, Middendorf Manchac!

Steady as She Goes
Monday
Distance: 6 miles
Time: 55:30 (ave pace 9:15)
Tuesday
Distance: 5 miles
Time: 46:14 (ave pace 9:15)
The beginning of this week is looking really good. I won't be doing any increased runs this week since I will be heading to Austin City Limits on Friday. I am so excited about going since I really haven't had a vacation all summer or all year so far. So I moved around my running schedule a bit so I would be sure that I would still get most of my runs in. I was going to happy if I got at least 3 days in but then my friends asked if we were going to run in Austin, and I said no. But they talked about how they had a beautiful the running area near where we are staying is, so I said sure! So I'll get my 4 days in after all. I ran in my neighborhood these past two days so completely un-interesting but I'll be at the lakes on Thursday to do my longest run this week. Hopefully, my Austin run will be more fun to write about. Austin or bust!!

Double Digits!
Thursday
Distance: 3 miles
Time: 29:39
On the treadmill, did some hills, got up to 5% incline
Saturday
Distance: 10.25 miles
Time: 1:38:13 (ave 9.35 min pace)
So I am currenty training for the BR Beach 1/2 Marathon which is on 12/4/10. I having steadily increased my mileage since the end of April. This is my second attempt to train for a 1/2. The year before I was training to do the San Antonio 1/2 with my RB, Melissa. But I got road blocked with knee issues and stopped running for a couple of months. I ran here and there 1-2 days a week for several months, and in Dec09 I decided it was time to start over, and try again. From Dec through April, I built back up my mileage and then started the running schedule I am following right now. It has had its ups and downs, but overall the training has been going very smoothly. Louisiana heat is ridiculous so all of my long runs
are down early Sat morns...until now! My alarm went off at 4:00am, and I snoozed until 5, then until 6. I would look at the temp on my phone and realized that it is now cool enough to wait a little later in the morn. I have been waiting all summer. Oveer the summer I had come to the realization that i am "vampire" runner...I do whatever I can to run in the dark or shade. But now that it's cooler, bring the sun on!! It was about 62 degrees when I started and it was glorious. I made my way around the large, small lakes and golf course, then around the larger lake again. I felt great, and went .5 mile longer and shed 6 mins off my time from doing 9.75 last week. My garmin (my running watch, that is the best purchase i have ever made ) beeped at 10 miles and I literally said as loud as could "oh my God" and I felt my smile as a kept on going. I had hit double digits. A wave of pride moved over me and I fully understood why some people cry after running. My knees did start aching around the 7th mile, but not enough to slow me down. What makes this time around so much better is the way I take care of myself...I've lost 23lbs since Feb and stretching/ice after runs are essential. I use to skip them a lot. And I can tell the difference.
The rest of the day will be spent relaxing, uh I just ran 10 miles. The only thing I have planned is watch the LSU game and visit with friends, so relaxing will be easy. Geaux Tigers!!

And So it Begins...
Well sort of. Well finally. Look DB, I have a blog! So I know that most people that will read this already know me but for those that are new, welcome! I'm new to blogging. I guess it took me awhile to do this cause I never thought that I would have anything interesting to say but I don't think that matters. I'm going to write about myself and if you would like to follow along, the more the merrier.
My name is Jenny. I live just outside of Baton Rouge, La. I am 32 years old, and I am a runner...recreational runner. I have been running for a couple of years now, and love it! I promise I will talk about other stuff but you will quickly find out that running has become a big part of who I am. At first, I thought this was going to be a running journal. But now I think that this could be a great way to keep people up to date on my life without having to hear "why dont you email me back". So here is my first post. If you're wondering why I named my blog "Just Breathe", it's because I say that to myself a lot during the day (you know you do too!)...And I say it of course when I run.
And since this is a running journal as well...
